I've always loved Spider-Man. As a kid I collected the comics (the first one I ever bought had the Lizard in it coincidentally), watched every incarnation of the cartoon and loved two out of three feature films (damn you Sam Raimi for killing any chances of a Venom film with your useless representation of the character). Now I'm not much for this whole re-booting of films that aren't even five years old, but I have to admit, I'm very excited about this movie. Sure, they're using Peter's parents as the "untold story" backdrop, but this Spider-Man feels darker, gritter and more down to earth than Raimi's vision and I love that. I'm sure when the smoke clears and I review the final product there will definitely be some pros and cons, but dammit I'm still optimistic.
